Hello.
This is Seoul international Extreme-Short Image & Film Festival
showing that anyone can make a film,
communicate with film anytime,
and can screen a film anywhere.
This year, it was a harsh time to merely celebrate the opening of SESIFF.
There have been big and small changes both internally and externally due to the COVID-19,
and after careful consideration, the film festival has been put on full-scale online considering the current severe situation.
All events and screenings were conducted through our website and the online conference system was used to create opportunities for directors and audiences to meet.
Even the special environment, many directors and audiences have visited the film festival online.
Online GV, which was conducted by ZOOM, was joined by not only korean but foreign directors to have active conversation with audiences.
Every participants were able to feel the new trend of the film festival.
SESIFF would like to thank the directors, actors, staff, and producers and distributors for their efforts in producing and presenting great works.

[International Competition]
■ Grand Award
'Community Gardens' Vytautas KATKUS / Lithuania
This is a humorous story about family, neighborhood, and the collapse of the community. The camerawork which wanders the fire disaster situation of others is captivating.
■ Special Jury Award
'Watermelon Baby' Jiekai LIAO / Japan
In this lovely film, the main character being apart from the loved one for a while fills the void of time in her own way. It's Beautiful.
■ Best Extreme-short Film Award
'Untitled' Paul RAZLAF / Germany
This experimental film made of 3 windows, 3 angles, and 3 shots shows the anxiety of one who is losing the possibility of movement, combining visual arts and performances.
■ Best Short Film Award
'Stuff' Malu JANSSEN / Netherlands
One has a lot of stuff. We are living with all the stuff stacked up in lonely places. But what if the stuff replaces our 'relationship' by any chance? This modern and simple short film is an amazing black comedy which portrays how the valuable things are related to our lives, and finally how they demolish our lives and relationships.

'Mother, Flower' KIM Eun-hye Hong / Korea
Its production is brilliant, narrative is also natural, and the depiction is realistic so that it portrays the depression of a pregnant woman that is forced by a society system in depth.
■ Special Jury Award
'Reminder' KIM Wonmyo / Korea
We liked the scene settings and the way of unfolding the story with lines which organize the main character's life. The method for connecting the character's life to the death of grandmother, the theme for another start were also great.
The calm atmosphere and the rhythm harmonize with the narrative. Plus, the formative beauty found in a daily space and the delicate mise-en-scène were also specially expressed.

'Empty Seat' CHOI Hangyu / Korea
It is a charming film which conveys the strong emotion in a short time, especially for the people who works in films. This is a good model for the micro short films, combining a great idea and acting.
■ Best Short Film Award
'Blue Grey' KIM Katie / Korea
One simple word conveys the visual and storytelling of this film: Wow! There is a quiet excitement that comes from viewing work that reveal such assured filmmaking talents. One cannot wait to see what this director will do next. But regardless of the future, the awarded short in itself is a terrific achievement and already indicates that her director is among the finest directors working in Korea.
